So, you’ve heard this idea of the chosen one, right? I mean it’s everywhere! The popular fiction of the day usually features a chosen one, and even non-fiction works feature the chosen person or being.
Sometimes we bring this idea into our lives. What do I mean? Well let’s say for us Christians our pastors are ‘the chosen ones’ the ones who study, the ones who do the most outreach, the ones who do greatest good. The rest of us well we’re not qualified. Or are we? =)
In my studies working on the Agents Project which I mentioned briefly in my “year old” material, I was struck by this idea of the chosen one, and how it tends to create apathy. Not always is this the case, in fact sometimes people desire to be the chosen one so much that they try to initiate themselves in certain ways. I’m thinking, of course, of what some people do after reading/watching Harry Potter and other similar materials.
How tragic! Look at what the Word tells us: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” 1 Peter 2:9
So we are already chosen! We are a generation that is chosen and looking for purpose and meaning in life. Why? Well, we do have an enemy who seeks to distract The Chosen form their purpose. Often we times we listen. So this is my hope with the Agents Project, as well as my other projects, to bring this message forward. We are The Chosen! In Christ, created for his glory as it says in Isaiah 43. Our purpose is found in God and His will for us which can be found in His Word.
Well that’s all I’ve got for now, thanks for reading my musings!
Until next time!
